Rooted in traditional Shaker design, it brings texture and architectural interest to a plain wall, giving a space a finished, considered feel without a full renovation.

What Is Shaker-Style Panelling?

Shaker-style panelling uses MDF moulding built up in simple, recessed rectangular frames across the wall, built to whatever height suits the room — from a partial feature wall behind a bed or sofa, up to full height where the space calls for it. MDF gives a completely smooth, paintable surface, so once filled, caulked and finished, every joint and edge disappears into crisp, seamless lines. Rooted in traditional Shaker furniture design, it's understated but striking — equally at home in a period property or a contemporary new-build.

  • Bedrooms — a favourite for feature walls behind the headboard, creating a hotel-style focal point.
  • Living rooms — often used around a fireplace or as a full statement wall.
